Remarks   Grade II listed conical lock up. Regarded as one of the best surviving examples of a 19th century lock up. Date of construction suggested by Harrold Manor Court Book - on 27 March 1824 consent given to build a 'cage' on the Green (Ref X192/11 - cited by Harrold Community Archive). By 1892 the lock up was used for storage only (see Standing Joint Committee papers and Victoria County History).

Descriptions

'Early C19 lock up. Small circular building of coursed limestone rubble. Steep conical stone roof surmounted by a moulded ball finial. Door with timber lintel.'

'The lock-up which stands a little south of the marketplace is a small circular stone building with a stone conical roof. Neither of these erections is now used as originally intended, lamps being kept in the lock-up.'
