From 1828, the Borough Gaol and House of Correction occupied the former premises of the County Gaol and House of Correction (ID 354) at Nun’s Green, Friar Gate. From 1836, borough prisoners were sent to the county gaol (ID 11). The borough gaol may have continued to be used as a lock up until its demolition in c1840.
