Building Type Lock Up, Police Station
'Lock up, Oldham Road. This lock-up is sufficienrly commodious in point of size, but the cells are scarecely habitable, from the almost intolerable smell which arises from the corporation having selected a space of ground at the back of the station for the deposit of all the filthy matters which are collected from the streets, and heaped together within a few feet of the cells: this nuisance cannot be too soon removed. The cells were clean. I recommend their being lighted with gas.'
