Nation   Wales

County   Caernarfonshire

Location    Caernarfon

Map location   in the vicinity

Year opened   unknown

Year closed   unknown

Building Type   gatehouse

Remarks   Roy's Blog gives location as beneath East Gate Bridge. He suggests it is a Grade II listed building (https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/300003889-24-market-streetwalled-towncaernarfongwynedd-caernarfon#.XQazNLxKiUk) but the listing makes no mention of its function as a lock-up.

Description: The Eastern Orthodox Chapel of SS Peter & Paul beneath East Gate Bridge This must be one of the smallest chapels in Britain. It used to be the town's lockup, with enough room to provide a night's lodging for about two prisoners. A wedding was celebrated here a few years ago.
