Remarks   Site used for burning of a suspected witch in 1683 suggests the stocks might have been present as early as the 17th century. Restored by Parish Council in 2000.

Description

  • 'Stocks on road verge to S of Green Street. Square post, chamfered and stopped, repaired at base. Two hinged iron clasps, each with 3 saddles for wrists, and hasp. Ankle boards missing, shown in position in photograph taken in 1927 at E.R.O.'
