Description

  • 'The lock up house is connected with the prison and consists of two cells, one on each side of the entrance-gate. The cells are 10 feet long, 7 1.2 feet in average width, and 7 1/2 feet high. They are damp, and there is no provision for warming or lighting them. I was informed that they are seldom used, except in harvest time, and that none but drunken people are put in.'
