Description

  • 'This lock up house is also of the same size and construction as that at Wirksworth, and was built at about the same time, that is five years ago. The situation is convenient and unobjectionable. The cells are dry, and they are warmed and ventilated, not however by the apparatus intended for that purpose, which the keeper said had little effect, but by the neighbouring fires and by the open windows. The bedding is sufficient.'
