Description
'This lock up house, which was built about five years ago, is on the same construction as that at Wirksworth ... except that there is no provision for warming the cells. The situation is convenient and unobjectionable. One of the cells did not appear to be quite dry, owing, the keeper thought, to the building being still rather new; but he said that this cell is gradually becoming dry. The airing yard is not secure, and no prisoner ought ever to be left there alone. There is a proper supply of bedding.'
