Description
'These lock-ups are attached to the sessions-house, and are used for the detention of prisoners while waiting their trial at the Midsummer sessions for the West Riding, holden in this town. They consist of five cells, three in the basement for males, and two on the upper floor for females ... These cells were in a very unclean state, the straw not having been remobved which had been brought for the prisoners to lie upon months previous at the sessions.'
